Reflection
My favorite project to create was my monster. I liked this one the most because it was fun to have the freedom to create anything I wanted. My monster also has a purpose in the house by being a cookie jar!
I struggled a lot when it came to making my Sgraffito plate. I couldnt make the right size slab, it took me a few times to get it right, but all I needed was more clay. Also, in the beginning I was using larger tools and when my detail got harder and smaller I was struggling, so I was told by a peer to change tools and it helped me make my piece have better and more clear detail.
The fist step I took into ceramics I did not know nearly as much as I do now. I knew what wheel throwing was but I had no idea what a slab roller was. I did not know how many different amounts of tools are used for the type of piece you are creating. Today, I am able to create a piece on my own and glaze it. I now know how to make coils and scratch and attach them together. I learned how to work well with others and always add more detail to the pieces even if you think it is finished. Also, I now understand how to start a pinch pot, I never knew that you have to use all your figers to make the ball even all around, not just your thumb. It was a great and fun experience to learn and I am glad that I took this class.
